First published in 1895, this is the very scarce 1978 'Remploy Reprint Edition' of this collection of detective stories from English writer and journalist Arthur Morrison.
Illustrated throughout, and in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper.
The second volume of Morrison's tales, following detective Martin Hewitt through six of his earliest cases, as he journeys through the slums of the East End.
Like Sherlock Holmes, Morrison's Martin Hewitt first appeared in the pages of The Strand Magazine, with the long out of print work appearing here in Remploy's 'Deerstalker Series' of detective fiction novels.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, exceptionally bright. Dust wrapper in fine condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
