Diamond & CBN-stones from Ukraine have some difficulties:

*****

Since the PDTools (UKRAINE) factory is experiencing difficulties of war, the plant reserves the right not to paint aluminum backing plates for sharpening stones, so some sharpening stones from Ukraine may not be painted and may be differ from the photos, but HOWEVER THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS OF THEM OF ABRASIVE MATERIAL inside THE SHARPENING STONES!

Attention:

The guarantee of the factory products from Poltava city PDTools (UKRAINE) is their gluing on a 4 mm backing plates in the factory way - for other sharpening bars, glued on a 3 mm backing plates (Hapstone, Gritomatic etc.), the factory DOES NOT BEAR RESPONSIBILITY AND DOES NOT GIVE a factory guarantee for those sharpening stones:

Attention:

Warning: PDTools trademark on the back of the aluminum's backing blanks 5/32” = 4 mm (See Attached picture from their booklet) high, can guarantee that you have purchased the PJSC Poltava Diamond Tools Superabrasives factory’s product for the American market from the Authorized dealer in North America (See Attached photo of our certificate)!

!  Mr. Efim Dreer (Canada) - 37 years on the sharpening field, creator of the Flip-in-Sharp rotary mechanism, which allows you to sharpen a knife without removing it from the clamps - he is the Father of the TSProf, Hapstone, Efim-2 and etc. sharpening systems, said (See the picture):  - Yes, guys! Now, in nowadays, CBN stones are the Best in the world!  Of course, it’s a pity - the era of natural stones like Arkansas, Washite, Lynn Idwall, etc. has passed. Yes, CBN stones do not require frequent leveling and I flatten them no more than once every year and a half...  !  :

!   Mr. Michael Lovett (a friend & the partner of Bob Loveless) wrote me his response under this video:

Mr. Levitt

Now that I've had a chance to really try these stones, I'm very impressed! I have a lot of diamond stones here. Simple plated stones, Venev Diamond Stones that are an nonmetallic binder along with Jande and Columbia Gorge. Nothing, and I mean nothing cuts like these stones.  Fast, but the finish they leave on the blade is crisp like I've never seen before. Even the coarser grits such as the 550 and 650 grits shave well, smooth in paper slicing but have an aggressive nature that has to be felt to believe. So aggressive in fact that care must be taken around the edges. Not for the careless user!

I will be ordering more of these stones. The ones shown here are for fixed angle sharpeners, but I do need to pick up a couple of bench stones. It's on the too do list!

I can't thank you enough for pepping these stones for me. I already have many hours using them on from D-2, 154-cpm, to M-4 and S90V. These stones are like the Honey Badger. They don't care! Nothing is too tough for the. :<)

Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) is the Micro powder Super abrasive.

Knife Knowledge: CBN vs Diamonds - Whetstone built to do the job. Everything you need to know - https://youtu.be/8DD2yQj7K8E - In video CBN - stone bonded by resin and we sell MUCH BETTER - these stones are bonded by a copper-tin metal. ONLY the PDT factory (Ukraine, Poltava) has this technology in the World!

Material & abrasiveCBN - cubic boron nitride. It has the best cost/productivity ratio for processing of STEELS, comparing to diamond and cheaper stones.
CBN stones are similar in qualities to Japanese wet stones, but have ten times longer working life.

CBN  is a generic name, there are also other names of this material, depending on manufacturer: borazon, elbor, cubonite.

Metal bond
Will last forever, although nothing is forever.

Concentration 100%.
Do not waste your money on cheaper stones with lower/unknown concentrations.

Preparation

Stones with grits finer 3 microns either require preparation on cast iron plates, or they will be self-polished after sharpening of 30-50 knives. Then they will be of gold color and work well.

Dressing / preparation of cubic boron nitride stone metal bond

Use and cleaning (unclogging)
Use any comfortable oil (baby, olive..) to prevent glazing. If glazed - clean (unclog) with alcohol and toothbrush.

Maintenance is only needed every year or two to flatten stone or "open up" abrasive grains. In 1-2 years you may need to flatten stone, on the glass with silicon oxide powder or iron oxide - grinding is carried out using powder of the same grit as the will be leveled sharpening stone (!).

   Tips:

Question from marbalie-0 (148)

Are these stones resin bonded or electroplated? Not really seeing specifics.

Answer:

These stones are bonded by a copper-tin metal. This distinguishes them from Chinese (bonded by electroplated) and from European ones (on a resin bond). That is, cubic nitride boride (CBN) is added to boiling copper-tin lava and it is "baked" in a metal base. This technology is available ONLY at the Poltava Diamond Tools factory (!), which makes the sharpening process with these types of stones the strongest and most durable in the WORLD - you can sharpen up to 77,000 knives (depending on the Grit size) with one bar!

For Example:

A lot of people make mistake between CBN-stones and Diamond:

   Additionally:

Diamond contains carbon, and all steel contains carbon. That is, when you are sharpening with diamonds, carbon sharpens carbon, which is not the best way to process steel. Only CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) does not contain carbon and it is close to diamonds in hardness! Thus, there is no MATERIAL BETTER than CBN yet 😊!
P.S.
These bars will be inherited by your grandchildren, for sure  - we have NO DOUBT about this, and IN ADDITION no lubricants or coolants are required during the sharpening - your desktop will always be clean
😊

😊 Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) is second only to diamond in hardness, BUT two times that of diamond in high temperature resistance, four times that of traditional abrasive in wear resistance, and have extraordinary thermal conductivity. It is designed for fine grinding and polishing in a variety of demanding surface finishing, such as metal bond grinding wheels, resin bond grinding wheels, vitrified bond wheels and electroplated products.

😊 Only we – PrJSC Poltava Diamond Tools, Ukraine – makes CBN by metallic (Copper + Tin) bonded in the sharpening stones

CBN sharpening stones

An analog of diamond bars that allow you to get a mirror edge are bars of boron nitride (CBN). Cubic boron nitride is a synthetic material that is close to diamond in hardness but has higher heat resistance. It is a chemical compound of two elements — boron (43.6%) and nitrogen (56.4%) and has a crystal lattice with almost the same structure and parameters as diamond. CBN bars are produced on metal bonds, which are based on copper and tin compounds, as well as on an organic bond (Bakelite) based on phenol-formaldehyde resin (We do not recommend this Bakelite bond as its use increases the likelihood of cancer and is not recommended for sale in the state of California). At the same time, it should be noted that CBN bars on a metal bond, despite their hardness, are able to give the secondary bevel a clean mirror surface. However, as with diamond polishing, this will take quite a long time. The 3/2 μm (F 5`000) bar already gives excellent results, and the 2/1 μm (F 10`000) bar guarantees a clean and even mirror.

Metallic CBN can be used without lubricants.

Metallic CBN stones may have tone imperfections. Metallic CBN may become darker over time due to natural metal oxidizing, it does not affect the sharpening.

Metallic CBN stones do not require any preparations.
