Art meets iPod!  I've combined my passion for art with my passion for iPods and this is the result.   Each iPod I've created is hand painted and one-of-a-kind.  


This iPod has received several upgrades to breathe new life into it: 

  • The original 850mAh battery has been replaced with a new 3000mAh LG Battery. This is huge battery upgrade for this device.  With a fully charged battery, playing music in random-mode with the volume at about 75%, you should get over 60 hours of continuous play-time (varies depending on screen brightness, volume level, music bit-rate, etc).  
  • The original internal mechanical hard drive has been replaced with 512GB of memory using an iFlash adapter and populated with high-quality, name-brand Micro SDXC cards (I use authentic SanDisk Ultra, Samsung Evo & Silicone Power brands).  The MicroSD cards have undergone though read/write testing, properly prepared and formatted FAT32 before installation to prevent any issues.  Some benefits of SD cards compared to mechanical hard disk drives are: they are faster, lighter, use far less power and are not prone to mechanical failure. The iFlash adapter is the most popular and reliable way to upgrade these iPods, intelligent power management with much lower power consumption than the original Hard drive, longer run-times and quicker user interface. With this much storage capacity, you can take your whole music collection with you, and enjoy hassle free listening without having to worry about streaming services.  Also, plenty of storage for lossless music, files like FLAC, ALAC, AIFF or WAV's.  

  • The original Stainless-Steel Thick Back Case has been reclaimed and airbrushed with Custom Artwork. Using Createx Wicked Airbrush Colors as well as Createx Wicked candy2o Colors, then sealed with CleanArmor aerospace-grade high-gloss clear-coat, which is scratch-resistant & UV-resistant.
  • New Front Cover, Click wheel & Center-Select Button
  • Includes a USB-cable and Apple Power Cube.
Since this iPod was originally the 80GB version it has 64MB of RAM on the system board, compared to the 30GB model which only has 32MB of RAM.  A 64MB motherboard runs faster and can handle more songs than the 32MB system board.  

Since this is the 5.5 Enhanced version of the iPod Classic 5th Generation, it has the SEARCH function which is an invaluable must-have for large music collections. 

 

This iPod uses a Wolfson DAC, which many users feel is superior to the Cirrus DACs we see in today's iPods. This well-known audiophile-quality chip is ideal for FLAC and lossless files for the best possible sound reproduction. 


I've also installed the latest version of Rockbox which is considerably more functional and efficient than the stock Apple firmware.  One of the main goals of Rockbox is audio playback quality, so it includes a wider range of sound settings than the device’s original firmware. You can still boot into the original Apple firmware by holding down the Menu button during boot.  You can also just use iTunes to restore the device and remove Rockbox completely if you wish.  The theme-pack I currently have selected is one of many that Rockbox offers allowing you to customize the look and feel of the interface.  You can also copy music files to the device using Windows File Copy. To do this, reboot the iPod into the Apple disk-mode (Hold down the MENU button during boot), which gives better throughput and a stable-transfer, no disconnects or other glitches that sometimes happen during file-transfers with the iPod in the Rockbox disk-mode. 


Please keep in mind that the back case on this custom iPod has been reclaimed and airbrushed with artwork by me in my home-studio/workshop.  That being said, please don't expect it to be perfect.   The iPod itself, has been built with love, fully tested and guaranteed to be 100% functional; it will meet all expectations.  However, the back case is an "as-is" item, and I cannot accept returns for any reason related to the back case itself.  I've gone out of my way to take high-quality photos of all angles so that you know what to expect if you choose to purchase this iPod.  I've invested a lot of time creating this one-of-a-kind iPod, and I would be proud to show it off, minor-flaws and all.


There will be a clear protective coating on the front & back of the unit which you can peel off when you receive it.
