ABOUT GORREANA TEA PLANTATION:
The Gorreana tea plantation is a tea estate located on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, Portugal. It is the oldest tea plantations in Europe, with a history dating back to 1883 when Chinese masters were brought over to teach the locals how to tend to the plants. The plantation is situated in a lush valley between two volcanic craters, providing ideal growing conditions for tea.
Gorreana tea is produced using traditional methods and the estate remains family-owned and operated. The tea is hand-picked and carefully processed in small batches to ensure the highest quality. The plantation produces two types of tea: black tea and green tea, with the black tea being the most popular.

PRODUCTS DESCRIPTION
Hysson:
- Scent and Flavor: Tea with a mild flavor, brownish green color and delicate scent. It has a lower content of theine, which is tea's equivalent to caffeine.
- Properties: Natural Antioxidant / Slimming / Folic Acid, Vitamin C, K, B1 and B2 / Anti Aging.
Orange Pekoe:
- Scent and Flavor: Tea made from the terminal bud and the first leaf of the plant's sprout. It's the most aromatic of the black teas and has an intermediate level of theine.
- Properties: Natural Antioxidant / Neuro-stimulant.
Pekoe:
- Scent and Flavor: Tea made from the second leaf of the plant's sprout. It has a dark copper color, with a strong and aromatic flavor. - Properties: Natural Antioxidant / Neuro-stimulant
Broken Leaf:
- Scent and Flavor: Tea made from the third leaf of the plant's sprout. It has a light copper color and a fruity flavor. Compared to Gorreana's other black teas, Broken Leaf has the lowest amount of theine.

Green Tea (tea bags):
- Scent and Flavor: Tea made by vaporization of the Camellia Sinensis leafs, maintaining its original color. It has a lighter flavor and not as much theine as the black tea.

Black Tea & Bergamot "Canto Tea":
Was produced by José Canto factory that started production in 1883 and was located on the road connecting the city of Ribeira Grande to Lagoa do Fogo on the island of Sao Miguel - Azores. Of all the tea factories, this was the most emblematic both in Sao Miguel as the continent with José Canto been a key driver of the introduction of the Azores tea culture. For practical aspect of impossibilities his heirs had to give up production in 1974. In 2011 the heiress Maria Hintze Jardim offered the brand "Canto" to Hermano da Mota from the Gorreana Tea Factory, provided this enhance the brand in the market as a tribute to its founder, José Canto. The "Canto Tea" Black and Bergamot is produced by an orthodox process, composed of 60% of black tea Gorreana and 40% of black tea flavored with bergamot, this combination results in a very robust and aromatic tea.
Encosta de Bruma:
- Made exclusively from the terminal bud and the first leaf of the plant´s sprout wich gives it a sweeter and lighter taste. This lot ows its singular characteristics to the fact that the plant is harvested between the months of April and May, being this the period of the year where, given the climatic circumstances, the plant acquires its unique features.
- Properties: Natural Antioxidant / Slimming / Folic Acid, Vitamin C, K, B1 and B2 / Anti Aging.
