Taylor Technique - Instant Space Maintainer

1. After separation, select band by sizing down 

from larger band to perfect band to avoid band 

stretching.

2. Mark band excess with black felt tip marker and 

trim with blue stone and polish with rubber wheel.

3. Place sterile gauze over oral pharynx as protection 

against aspiration.  Mark excess staple and cut off.

4. Seat band with staple to check fit and position. 

Mark needed bends and adjust with Light Wire Plier.

5. Tape occlusal of band and add tiny amount of 

soft wax to tube/staple junction to hold in place.

6. After etching, seat band, remove tape, and wipe off 

ex-cess cement. Burnish occlusal band edge against tooth.

7. Cure all around occlusal sur-face with LED Curing Light for 10 seconds.

8. Hold staple tightly against adjacent tooth. Then crimp each tube to lock staple and tube together.
