The 2013 release of the Epic Talisker 30 year old yielded just 3738 bottles and bottled at 45.8% ABV.
Widely regarded as one of the great single malts of the world with 93.5 points in Jim Murray's whisky bible 2017.
Nose: Smoked orange, waxy kumquat, salted caramel, well polished peppery oak, chocolate melted over hot coals, a bonfire by the sea, dried shellfish, sweet BBQ sauce.
Palate: Salt and pepper honey glazed ribs, smoked ham, waxy citrus, quince jelly, leathery, aniseed, sweet chilli & soy marinated seafood on a coastal BBQ.
Finish: Peppery smoke, salted caramel sweetness balanced by dry cured/smoked meat and shellfish savoury notes, aniseed, burnt butter & salted fish skin with smoked lemon rind.
Complex and impressive Talisker that is most definitely "made by the sea" - great malt for a coastal walk or a winter BBQ.
