Curious three piece set of antique / vintage 1930's bakelite clasps:

~ Three individual pieces - are coordinating or complimentary - but not an exact match
~ Subtle differences makes these very unique and different
~ All three feature a brown base with darker brown or black marbling - "Mississippi Mud" bakelite
~ Two of the pieces have what look like carved blue semi-transparent bakelite centers (but they don't test to be bakelite), the other more of a black plastic looking one
~ Two have little brass flowers with four petals finishing it off and the last a round button center
~ Each piece has a large side hook and one has a chain to connect to the others
~ All three have two loop shanks for sewing or attaching to your garment or project - one in the center like a button and one closer to the edge
~ As big, chunky, heavy, and substantial as these are - I think they were originally meant to be coat or cloak hooks, clasps, or fasteners

Ready and waiting for your creative ideas, sewing room stash, collection and/or gift giving - you will love these!

METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES and/or SYMBOLISM:  x

AGE OR ERA:  Authentic true vintage pieces - Guessing 1920's to 1930's  - Art Deco in era

MARKINGS:   None that I could find

METAL / MATERIAL:   Bakelite, plastic, and metal

CLASP / CLOSURE:  x

MEASUREMENTS:   Each measure about 1 5/8" or 43 mm in diameter (not including any hooks or chains) and are 9 - 10 mm thick

WEIGHT:  52.1 grams on my scale (weighed in two groups and added together)

TESTING:  The brown marbled body tested positive for bakelite with both the rub and smell and Simichrome tests.  The blue carved centers on the two did test to be negative - but I still strongly suspect that they may be bakelite.  The darker black center is a different plastic of some sort.

U.S. RING SIZE:  x

INVENTORY NUMBER OR NOTE:  x

CONDITION =  Good vintage condition - Nicely intact.  No chips out of the brown bodies - the piece with the black plastic center does look to have some very minor stable cracks - see pics.  Very light wear to some of the metal.  In an excellent state of preservation

Please view & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina and/or wear.  Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged and not mentioned.  Especially if obvious and/or prominent in the photos.  Individuals do have varying levels of desire and tolerance for "vintage charm" so do utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all, as they are an integral part and extension of the description.
