Film-maker Niccol Farra (Toms Milin - Boccaccio 70, La Luna) doesn't have a clear idea about his next film beyond the fact that it's about a woman. At his sister's clinic, he encounters Mavi (Daniela Silveiro). Their affair, by turns passionate and volatile, transforms Niccol. His obsession for Mavi turns paranoid as he suspects their movements are being watched by an unseen admirer. Her disappearance from his life and failure to contact her leaves him desiccated.

A fresh relationship with Ida (Christine Boisson) brings some form of stability as Niccol attempts to resolve the crisis that envelops his art and life, one inseparable from the other.

Identification of a Woman, Michelangelo Antonioni's penultimate feature, marked a return to Italy after an interim period dedicated to international productions (Blow-Up, The Passenger). It revisits the themes of his 60s works (L'Avventura), while breaking new ground in its impressionistic narrative and its unaffected visual style.

Described by commentators such as Jonathan Rosenbaum as one of the greatest Italian films of the 80s, it reveals a film pioneer committed to documenting the tensions of modernity while placing human relationships at the focus of its constant mutability.
