The original GI Joe toy first debuted in 1964 and was an instant hit. The popularity of the original oversized figure declined year over year until the early 80's when the brand was given a complete overhaul and was accompanied by a hit animated TV series "GI Joe: A Real American Hero".

GI Joe became one of the best selling toy franchises of the 80's and their popularity continues to this day as Hollywood has successfully transitioned the property into the live-action sphere and it shows no signs of slowing down.

These cards were released at the height of the GI Joe brand's popularity in 1986.
