The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, Vintage Crime/Black Lizard paperback.

Raymond Chandler wrote seven hardboiled detective novels featuring Phillip Marlowe, and this is probably the most popular of the bunch. The Big Sleep has been filmed several times, most famously by Howard Hawks with Humphrey Bogart as Marlowe in 1946. It's a twisting story of murder, pornography, and the corruption that grows from extreme wealth. (In fact, the story is so twisting that when the filmmakers asked Chandler whether a particular character had been murdered or committed suicide, Chandler replied that he honestly didn't know!)

These Vintage Crime / Black Lizard editions are very high quality paperbacks. They are printed on very good paper and hold up to multiple readings; they are also nice looking on the shelf. This copy is in good condition with some wear and minor flaws. The exterior shows minor wear including very small creases at the corners and a small rip at the base of the spine. The binding is tight but there is a line up the center of the exterior spine showing where the book has been opened. The interior is clean and unmarked with bright white pages.

If you haven't read The Big Sleep, you really should. Either way, this copy is a solid reader that will provide many years of repeated readings.

All books are individually evaluated and photos are of the actual book.
