A sweet miniature glass Angel Fish figurine, hand crafted in the lampwork technique. It measures 2.5 cm (1") in length and 2.7 cm (1.1") in height. In excellent, pre-owned condition, with no chips or cracks.
The Craft
Lampworking dates back to the 5th century BC and was widely practiced in Murano, Italy in the 14th century and is also referred to as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps. Today this technique uses a torch to melt selected coloured glass rods and once in a molten state, the glass pieces are skillfully molded, stretched, shaped and fused together using small hand tools, resulting in this charming little figurine.
