1921 Peace silver $1 Dollar (High Relief).

Examples like this don’t pop up often - phenomenal detailing on rarer 1921 Peace Dollar. The Strike is superb (take a good look at the lettering and the Eagles feet as an example).

To get a strike as good as this on a High Relief Peace Dollar is a feat in itself !

In 1921 President Harding authorised the minting of a new Dollar to commemorate the ending of WW1 and World Peace. The US mint was really struggling with the High Relief design - very many coins and Dies had to be discarded - damaged by the hefty strike needed to make this high relief Peace Dollar. They managed to produce a little over a million coins in the December 1921 - an amazing achievement ! Not long after this the High Relief design was promptly abandoned and the rest of the Peace Dollars are not in High Relief. This coin for sale here is one of those actual coins - a 122 year old silver antique. No cleaning, no polishing, no dipping - no anything - just as it is untouched and a very choice example.
