Historical German Aviation Industry Aluminum FLIEGER TALISMAN Medallion, ca. 1935.  The Medallion was issued by Rudolf Rautenbach of Solingen, who made the metalwork for aircraft. His aero-engine factory was bombed and destroyed on May 3, 1944.

The medal is about 40 mm across, and the original leather pouch is included.  The medallion is rare - at the time of this posting there were only two others available on the Web, both from European sellers.

The Obverse depicts three biplanes flying, and the lettering: FLIEGER TALISMAN (Aviator Talisman.)

The Lettering in the Reverse reads: FUER UNSERE FLIGEREI IST DAS BESTE MATERIAL GERADE GUT GENUG (The best material is just good enough  for our flying.) A large letter R within a diamond is at the center, and the lettering around it reads: RUDOLF RAUTENBACH LEICHTMETTAL-GUSS (Cast Light metal.)
