Up for sale is a stunning Japanese print titled "Yui (Satta Pass)" from the "Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido Hoeido Edition" series by Utagawa Hiroshige. This authentic print was purchased in Japan over 30 years ago and has been tastefully framed using high-quality wood in Kyoto.

The print showcases Satta Pass, a challenging area known as "Oyashirazu" located on the Tokaido Road. On one side lies a high mountain range, while on the other side lies the serene sea. The view from the pass is considered to be the most beautiful of the fifty-three stations, with the majestic Mt. Fuji visible in the distance, set against a backdrop of blue sea and white clouds.

This is not a modern reprint, as evidenced by the stamp on the left of the frame indicating it to be an earlier version. Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of Japanese art history. Please examine the photos carefully before placing your bid or making a purchase.

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, famous for his landscapes, particularly his series of prints titled "The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tokaido" and "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo". Hiroshige's art style was characterized by its naturalism, its use of light and shadow, and its atmospheric effects.

Hiroshige was born in Edo (now Tokyo), and worked as an apprentice in the studio of Utagawa Toyohiro before branching out on his own. He became a popular artist during his lifetime and was highly regarded by Western artists such as Vincent van Gogh and James McNeill Whistler. Hiroshige's work had a significant impact on the development of Western art, particularly the Impressionist movement.

In addition to his landscape prints, Hiroshige also created other types of prints, including images of birds and flowers, kabuki actors, and erotica. He died in Edo at the age of 61.
