Listing is for a Vintage Solido Collection Militaire I French 1939 Citroën 15 CV Military Car # 6035, 1:43, Limited Edition, Die-cast Metal, New in Box ("NIB"), Mint Condition. Citroën was used by the French Resistance during World War II and has painted on its doors’ symbols of resistance, which are "V" with "double cross" and "FFI." Citroën military car is colored Army 2-Tone Green Camo and comes with a walking military soldier. Bonnet Opens Halfway on Each Side. French Citroën Traction Avant is world’s first unibody front-wheel-drive car. A range of mostly 4-door cars were made with four or six-cylinder engines, produced by French manufacturer Citroën from 1934 to 1957. One of the models was Citroën 15 CV, which was produced in 1939. Traction Avant pioneered integrating front-wheel drive and four-wheel independent suspension into a mass-production, crash resistant, unitary, monocoque body. Also, car was an early adopter of rack and pinion steering. Although car's name emphasized its front-wheel drive power delivery (“Traction Avant” literally means “front traction”), car stood out at least as much by its much lower profile and stance – made possible by absence of a separate chassis under car's unitary body – sharply distinguishing it visually from its contemporaries. 1940 was last year Citroën Traction Avant was built because of start of World War II until production resume in 1945. Traction Avants were favored by French Resistance, and as occupation gave way to Liberation they turned up all over France with “FFI” inscribed proudly on their doors. Please note that typically, Solido tanks and armored fighting vehicles are made in a 1:50 scale while the support vehicles, which include the jeeps and staff cars, are produced in a slightly larger 1:43 scale. Also, Solido models are built so well that over 30 years later they are as good as they were when they were built and first sold. Truly this is quite remarkable!
