This beautiful set of books with fine binding is part of a limited run of the beautiful The Great Events By Famous Historians set. The number of this set out of the thousand that were printed is unknown, as the first volume isn't present in this set. (The first volume is the only volume that shows what number set these come from.)

Please note, I am willing to break up this set.

This set includes 8 books:
Volume V: A.D. 843-1161
Volume VIII: A.D. 1438-1516
Volume X: A.D. 1558-1608
Volume XII: A.D. 1661-1715
Volume XIII: A.D. 1716-1775
Volume XV: A.D. 1800-1815
Volume XVI: A.D. 1816-1844
Volume XVII: A.D. 1844-1861

Editors: Rossiter Johnson, LL.D., Charles F. Horne, Ph.D., and John Rudd, LL.D.

All books in this set are absolutely stunning. All of them have gilding on their covers, spines, and the tops of their text blocks. The remaining two sides of the text blocks are rough cut, which adds to their antique appearance. (And, of course, these books are in fact antiques, as they are over 100 years old. They were all published in 1905.)

These books are not without their flaws, however. A few books have some small stains and discoloration on their covers. Some have a small amount of fraying on the tops and bottoms of their spines. All have at least a small amount of shelf wear, but nothing too severe. These books have varying levels of sun-bleaching on their spines as well, but, again, nothing too severe.

All books appear to be free of any writing or markings, save a previous owner's name which is penned in on the inside front cover. This name is dated 1906, likely when the set was purchased. All pages appear to be accounted for and none are loose. Binding is fairly tight and no pages are running the risk of coming loose. Volume 15 has a tear on the thin paper protecting the illustration; the bottom corner of it is missing. There doesn't seem to be any other damage beyond this, from what I've seen.

These books truly are stunning, and they can make for great décor, for better reading, or anything like that. Make them yours today!

Books will be shipped via USPS and will be packed very well. All will be wrapped individually to ensure their safe arrival.
