This is a scarce coin that the South African Mint quickly sold out of. 3,000 coins were allocated to be sold in South Africa and an additional 30,000 coins were struck expressly for FIFA. Presumably these were to be made into FIFA sets for the host country of Russia but as of yet none has surfaced. This is not surprising due to the political situation that Russia has found itself in, with embargo's and import restrictions by most civilized countries.
I've seen where some people claim that the actual mintage of this coin is 192 coins. I do know that the mint figures show the maximum amount to be minted and sometimes that don't mint as many as anticipated. Many of the modern R2 coins have mintages less than 200.
The 192 figure may be the amount sold in south africa and other countries may have received thousands of them. Whatever the case, this coin is rarely offered for sale.
