Listing is for a Vintage 1973 Diorama Polistil #CA 101 Soviet USSR T-62 Tank, Diecast Metal 1:50 scale w/3 Soldiers, Tank is Mint Condition, comes w/Box. T-62 Tank is a heavy die-cast metal vehicle weighing by itself 11 ounces, with plastic wheels and 2 chain silver metal tank trends. Its turret rotates 360 degrees and machine gun itself rotates and elevates and holds its elevated position and lowers. Tank and 3 plastic soldiers are painted army green in color. Diorama is polystyrene and T-62 Tank fixed to diorama. Tank measurements are 5 3/8” Long (7 1/2” including barrel) x 2 3/4” Wide x 1 3/4” High. There is nothing broken, chipped, cracked, or missing from tank. Polistil cardboard box no longer has its two flaps and shows some other damage from being 40 years old (see photos). Polistil cardboard box sleeve is dated 10/10/1973 and has three (3) panels of Russian text (see photos). Polistil Tank was made in Italy. Please note that Polistil military tanks are Rarely listed on Ebay each year; thus it is extremely rare to find one. If returned by buyer there will be a 15% restocking fee, besides buyer paying for return ship.

T-62 is a Soviet medium battle tank introduced in 1961. As a further development of Soviet T-55 tank series, T-62 retained many similar design elements of its predecessor including low profile and thick turret armor. In contrast with previous tanks, which were armed with 100 mm rifled tank cannons, T-62 was first production tank armed with a smoothbore tank cannon plus a larger 115mm gun that could fire armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS), long dart penetrator rounds at higher velocities. While T-62 became standard tank in Soviet arsenal, it did not fully replace T-55 in export markets due to its higher manufacturing costs and maintenance requirements compared to its predecessor. Although it was followed by later Russian tank models in successor states of Soviet Union, T-62 remained in reserve in former USSR and in frontline use by other countries. Design feature s of T-62 became standardized in subsequent Soviet and Russian mass-produced main battle tanks. More than 22,700 T-62 tanks were built. Besides 115 mm cannon, secondary armament are a 7.62mm coaxial general-purpose machine gun and 12.7mm antiaircraft heavy machine gun.
Polistil is an Italian toy brand specialized in die-cast metal and plastic model scale model vehicles of all sizes, including tanks. Starting in 1980, a variety of Polistil 1:50 scale die-cast metal trucks and tanks (“CA” series) and other military vehicles were produced. After a 33-year span, and a collaboration with Tonka, Polistil went out of business in 1993, but now is a brand under May Cheong Group (owner of the brand Maisto).
