This release includes all the Mario-related tracks from the live album titled Mario & Zelda Big Band Live, which was originally released on CD and DVD in 2003. The album captures professional live recordings from a concert held a few months earlier at Japan Seinenkan Hall. In addition to featuring songs from various Super Mario games released up to that point, the album also showcases performances of the 1986 single "GO GO MARIO" (a vocal arrangement of the main ground theme) and "Yoshi on the Beach" from Yoshi's Story.
The concert was a remarkable event with special guests, including original composers Koji Kondo and Kazumi Totaka, who joined the band members. Even the creator of Mario and Zelda himself, Shigeru Miyamoto, took part in the performance, playing the acoustic guitar. It stands as one of the most exceptional and energetic live performances of video game music in the history of the medium. To suit the diverse range of instruments in the big band, all the arrangements were given a lively Latin and jazzy twist.
