1889 Wilkes-Barre Pa Victorian Antique Brass Sign St Stephens Church Bed/Shelter.

This is a unique 1889 sign from the dedication of St Stephen’s Bed, No Two Maintained by St Stephen’s Church in Wilkes-Barre, Pa (Pennsylvania) in 1889

This piece is solid brass and is in wonderful condition for its age. The “bed” was a once common term for an emergency assistance shelter for the needy most commonly run by church organizations in the Victorian era.
