Arturo Lempeur (Belmondo) is a rich and capricious young man who, tired of the life he leads, tries unsuccessfully to commit suicide again and again while taking a trip around the world on his sailboat. Fed up with his failed attempts, upon arriving in China he decides to take out an insurance policy whereby, in the event of accidental death, two million dollars would be shared between his fiancée and his best friend, Mister Goh (Valéry Inkijinoff), who assures him Lempeur that within a month he will suffer an unexpected accident. However, he immediately regrets his decision and will then have to concentrate all his efforts on the difficult task of saving his life.
