This die-cast plastic detailed German soldier figurine is hand-painted. Each container contains a detailed German soldier, weapon and plastic stand. This is 1 of 4 different German soldiers in the WINTER COMBAT EASTERN FRONT 1942-1943 series. Made in China by Dragon Models.
During German-Soviet Winter Campaign of 1942-1943, German committed 3,400,000 troops aided by 500,000 soldiers from Axis countries Hungary, Italy, and Romania against 5,300,000 Russian Army. While German 6th and 4th Panzer Armies had been fighting their way into Stalingrad, Soviet armies had congregated on either side of city, specifically into Don bridgeheads, and it was from these that they struck in November 1942. Two Soviet Armies punched through Romanian and Italian lines and destroying those armies, trapping 300,000 German 6th Army. Germans rushed 3 Panzer Divisions to Soviet Union to relieve Stalingrad, but offensive did not get going until mid-December 1942, by which time 6th Army in Stalingrad was starving and too weak to break out. On January 31, 1943, 90,000 survivors of 300,000-man 6th Army surrendered.
