THE BROAD HIGHWAY by Jeffery Farnol Vintage LEATHER Bound Book

THE BROAD HIGHWAY by Jeffery Farnol Vintage Leather-Bound Book. This is without a Dust Jacket. It has a ribbon attached, intended as a bookmark.

This is an overall neat, clean and tightly bound copy of this book.

Published by Sampson Low, Marston & Co., Ltd, London and printed in Great Britain Purnell and Sons, Paulton (Somerset) and London. It is a pocket-sized edition.  This is not dated and sadly, despite extensive research, I have been unable to pinpoint this book to an exact date, but my best estimate would probably be in the region of 1930s. The novel was first published in 1910 and this is likely to date after this. In any case, the publisher was taken over by Purnells in 1950 and so it must pre-date this.

The vibrant blue limp leather-bound boards and spine are intact and robust, although there are some light scratches, some small marks, and a little wear, more-so to the edges and corners. There is bumping to the corners and a gentle lean of the spine. Please see the photographs which I have provided for further reference. On the front board there is a beautiful gold gilt signature for Jeffery Farnol. There are also highly ornate gilt decorations and lettering the spine which says, “the Works of Jeffery Farnol” and “The Broad Highway”.

The pages are top edged gilt, which is a wonderful finish. They are lightly tanned. The pages are in an overall neat and clean state, but there is the very occasional small mark or fold to just a few pages. Only a few pages have small rips to their edges, although this does not obscure the text. There are no pen or pencil marks inside this book. The pages are tightly bound and secure. There are no loose or missing pages. All 446 pages are present. Please study the photos carefully as to the condition of this book, as they do form part of the description.

This measures approximately 17.3 cm by 11.2 cm and 1.6 cm wide. It weighs approximately 235 grams.
