Listing is for a 2006 Corgi Forward March, WWII Luftwaffe Fighter Ace Walter Gus Nowotny # US59106, Hand Painted Die-cast Metal, 1:32 Scale, near Mint condition, RARE Major Nowotny’s hand-painted die-cast metal figure is highly detailed spin-cast scale model that measures 2.50” High, weighs 1.5 ounces, and is made for the adult collector.  While there is No original box, die-cast metal figure is wrapped in bubble wrap, surrounded with Styrofoam peanuts, and packed in a new double-walled box to protect it during shipment.  This Corgi Forward Mach figure of WWII Hero Major Walter Gus Nowotny Luftwaffe Fighter Ace is 1 of only 1,000 made and thus is rare.  This figure is made to go with existing range of 1:32 World War II Corgi Aircraft.  Nowotny was born in Austria in 1920 & died on November 8, 1944.  Nowotny joined Luftwaffe in 1939 & completed his fighter pilot training in 1941, after which he was posted to Eastern Front.  He was a German fighter ace of World War II credited with 258 aerial victories aircraft in 442 combat missions.  Nowotny achieved 255 of these victories on Eastern Front & 3 while flying one of first jet fighters, Messerschmitt Me 262.  He scored most of his victories in Focke-Wulf FW 190 & about 50 Messerschmitt Bf109.  Nowotny was first pilot to achieve 250 victories, 194 in 1943 alone, earning him Knight's Cross of Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords, & Diamonds.  Nowotny tested & developed tactics for Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter.
