It is velvety, hard, gray-yellow or brown-chestnut in color.The pulp of the mushroom is dense in the leg and elastic in the body, later it becomes hard, leathery, its color is white or yellowish.The mushroom can be found in spring (early to mid-May) and late autumn. It grows on the wood of deciduous trees, such as linden, willow, birch, rowan, alder, and also on rotting trees buried in the ground. As a rule, winter tinder is not very common, it can form groups or grow alone.The caps of young specimens are suitable for consumption, mainly they are dried or used fresh.Harvested and grown for medicinal purposes.
