HUM 315 – Mountaineer - TMK-4

Height – 5" Tall

This hummel was originally modeled in 1955 by Master Sculptor Gerhard Skrobek. It was first introduced in the U.S. market at the N.Y. World's Fair in 1964 with the 3-Line Bee Trademark as seen here. Older models, such as this one, have a green stick rather than the dark gray stick found on newer models. Older examples are slightly smaller, as depicted here, standing at exactly 5" tall while most are typically about 5.25". This is a closed edition. See below for the specifications:

• Has the early "V 🐝 ©️ by W. Goebel W. Germany" 3-Line Bee Trademark (TMK-4) stamped in Blue on underside of base.

• First Available Trademark issued in the USA in 1964.

• Has Green Stick instead of newer gray stick. (Early Version)

• Incised Hummel Number "315" and Copyright Date "1955" on underside of base. Incised "M.I. Hummel" on rear side of base.

• Hummel stands at 5" tall, which is at the exact height listed in the catalogs. (5") Newer models are slightly taller.

• Master Painter Marked in Black on underside of base. There is also a signature in Blue on bottom as well, presumably by Master Painter, but difficult to distinguish precise spelling due to cursive letters. Please view pictures.

• Hummel retains original India House Store Price and Inventory Stickers on base.

• Colors are Vibrant, Lustrous and Glossy.

• Closed Edition.

• Hummel is in Excellent condition considering it's age! No Repairs! No Chips! No Touch Ups! There is some minor crazing present throughout the piece, with majority of crazing on the bottom of the base. Please view pictures, one with and one without light and magnification. It may have a nominal amount of dust from sitting in the China Cabinet for decades. I did not want to damage it inadvertently by cleaning it.

My mother was the President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Hummel Club during the 1980s through early 2000s and collected Hummel figurines for approximately 50 years.
