Samburu Moran #1: The Moran are the most striking members of the Samburu society. These young men are privileged and pampered for fifteen years between circumcision and true adulthood. As a Moran eases into adulthood and becomes a junior elder, he will bestow most of his ornaments on the Moran of the next generation.   Samburu Woman #2: Samburu men believe that Samburu women do not have enough beads until their necklaces support their chins. By the age of sixteen young women should have garnered enough beads to inspire a marriage proposal. Unlike the Moran, the Samburu women are raised within strict confines.   Karo Man: One of the most colorful people in a region full of colorful people, the Karo incorporate all the style elements practiced by the Omotic peoples. On special occasions, every tribe member is painted with striking designs resembling the guinea fowl or the fur of the leopard. For the symbol conscious Maasai, blue beads symbolize God as “the color of the sky where he lives, green beads represent vegetation after rainfall.” Beaded earflaps indicate that a woman is married. Her husband will never see her without them. (Approximately 6 3/4" Tall).   Ndebele Woman: In South Africa, the Ndebele have been recognized as a distinct culture for several hundred years. The traditional brass rings collect around the women’s neck create an elongated profile that these people find desirable. In the past, the number of rings was to indicate the woman’s wealth and status. Size (Approximately 7 ½” Tall). Perfect for gifts and collectables.   Bumi Woman: This is a lifelike bust with stunningly realistic details of a Bumi Woman from an African tribe. The skin tones and necklaces have been painted with precision. Her eyes radiate with a lifelike quality. Bumi Woman African Bust is made from resin with hand-painted color details, 6.5"H.
