Welcome. Thanks for stopping in. Up for sale is one of my Univox U-235-PB Amplifier restorations. This unit is SN42791 manufactured in Japan in the late 1960s, most likely 1967-68. This amp is fully restored and in excellent condition.

Originally sold as a Bass Amp, this amp is also good for guitar. It has Bass, High, and Low inputs, Deep and Sharp switches, and incorporates the James tone stack which uses Bass and Treble controls. This amp sounds great, has low noise, has been burned in, and has been extensively tested and documented. This amp has been completely restored and includes a number of safety and protection upgrades including IEC power cord connection with grounding, AC line safety capacitor, varistor surge protection, HT fusing, an HT discharge resistor, and OT output protection resistors. The transformers are original. All power supply and coupling capacitors, all resistors beyond 10% of their original ratings, and all potentiometers have been replaced. The power tubes are strong matched pair of Grove Tube 6L6GCs, and new Tung Sol 12AU7 valves (tubes) are installed in the Preamp, Phase Inverter, and Driver positions.  This amp has its original black Tolex which has been cleaned and repaired, original knobs, original polished hardware, and new rubber feet. A new polished aluminum heat shield shows off the valves very nicely. There are minor scratches, imperfections, and metal oxidation typical of an amp over 50 years old. This amp achieves clean output up to 35 Watts RMS. This amp is provided with schematics including one showing all mods and parts replaced. A cover by Custom Amp Covers Inc. with a unique custom Univox Emblem sewn on the front is included and will keep this amp looking its best. A pocket in the cover is provided and holds the new IEC power cord.

This model is commonly mistaken for a Model U-1235/1236 (among others). The U-235-PB actually preceded the U-1235/1236. Part of this confusion may have come from a schematic not being available for the U-235-PB model (which is now available). These models have nearly identical post power supply design, however the power supply in the U-235-PB is lower voltage than the U-1235/1236, is lower wattage, and uses a 12AU7 Phase Inverter instead of a 12AX7. A picture of these two models together is posted to show the differences (for reference only, not the units for sale). The U-235-PB model is on top. As you can see, inputs and controls are identical, just different size and color faceplates.
