An excellent opportunity to own a pure Kolinsky Sable watercolour brush at a very reasonable price.

Very hard to find at large sizes these days (especially in America) due to Sable Minks' hair only growing to a length suitable for larger sizes in severe winters which results in a very limited supply of these sizes. Winsor & Newton have in fact now discontinued their 9mm equivalent.

Hand made by Italy's oldest brush manufacturer from pure Kolinsky Sable hair (NOT the much cheaper Red Sable) in rust-proof, seamless nickel plated ferrules with black and gold satin handles. The series is named in honour of Francisco Goya.

These are exceptionally good quality Kolinsky brushes at a fraction of the price of 'Designer' brushes by Windsor & Newton etc, though with no less attributes. Water holding capacity is excellent and they are tapered to a fine point for intricate details. These brushes will last for years.

And see how favorably these brushes hold up against a brush 5 times the price.

The story behind these brushes...

My late Italian Father, a very talented artist, owned an art shop during the 80s and 90s in Bath's famous Abbey Green Courtyard. 'Art Box', as it was known stocked exclusively Italian artist's materials, offering an alternative to the typical English brands, Windsor & Newton and Daler Rowney etc. In his retirement in the late 90s and early 2000s, utilising his contacts from the Art Box days, he directly imported Kolinsky and Setola brushes from Italy's oldest brush manufacturer, Ferrario to sell Mail Order. In an era before ecommerce it was struggle to find a client base remotely via magazine adverts alone, and as such, literally hundreds of these NEW/OLD stock brushes have passed to me. I am also an artist but do not work with paint hence why I'm now selling them online at an affordable price.

They have been extremely carefully dry stored for many years and despite their age are completely as new. Kolinsky is designed to last, and these will give you many, many years of painting pleasure.

I can happily post Worldwide. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.

The brushes are without frivolous packaging (another reason I can keep the cost low) but the bristles are protected by the original plastic tubes.

PLEASE NOTE! There is little to no standardization amongst brush manufactures - A size 10 brush by one manufacturer can vary quite a bit in shape and size from another's size 10. For example, W&N tend to run large and These Ferrario brushes tend to be on the smaller side. It's essential, therefore, you please satisfy yourself with the below dimensions before purchasing. Bristle width and handle width measurements are taken at the belly of the brush (the widest part).
