Vintage Royal Dux Bohemia Bird on Branch w/ Flowers Porcelain Figurine # 424
Made in Czechoslovakia
by Jiri Bradacek (1922-1984)

I am offering up this adorable Royal Dux Bohemia Porcelain Bird Figurine #424.  This item has the pink triangle and is an authentic Royal Dux, Made in Czechoslovakia.  Made by designer Jiri Bradacek who's name is etched into the front of the piece.  I tried to show it in the picture but it's hard to make out because of the way it's done and where it's at.   This bird measures 4-1/4" tall x 3-3/4" long x 2-1/2" wide.

It's mind boggling to me to think how far this little guy has come and the age of it and yet it is in amazing condition.  But please don't take my word for it, please look at the photos because they are part of the description.

About the Artist:
Jiří Bradáček was born on June 27, 1922. He graduated from the State School of Ceramics in Prague in the studio of Václav Vokálek. In 1939 he was admitted to the School of Applied Arts, where he studied in the years 1939-1944. From 1945 to 1946 he went to the Academy of Fine Arts.  He belonged to the wave of artists who, after World War II, became involved in the developing industry in the cities in northern Bohemia, where he moved. At the beginning, Bradáček worked in the Duchcov porcelain factory Royal Dux, for which he designed small sculptures.  From the 1960s, he began to use stone as a material for his sculptures, such as The Girl with the Braid (1962). The culmination of his work in stone was the work Fertility (1967) created at a symposium in Hořice. From 1967 he worked as an associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he ran a studio of applied sculpture. He created a number of free and decorative sculptures for North Bohemian cities such as Děčín, Most, Teplice, Ústí nad Labem. He often collaborated with sculptor Václav Kyselka on larger realizations, eg Julius Fučík for Bílina (1956) or JV Stalinin Litoměřice (1955). He died on July 18, 1984 in Prague.
