Introduction
Isamu Noguchi, a sculptor representing the 20th century, is an artist who performed a wide range of activities from monument, environment design such as garden and park, furniture and lighting interior to stage art.
Atelier and residence of Mugi-machi, Kagawa Prefecture, which was the base of Noguchi's activities with New York, strongly hoped that this site will be the source of inspiration for future artists, researchers and widely art lovers It realized the will of Noguchi who was there, and has been open to the public since 1999 as "Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum".
As well as sculptures of over 150 sculptures, the whole is one large "earth sculpture", or environmental sculpture, such as the exhibition halls that have been selected by themselves, Isamu residence and the sculpture garden that was produced later.
In 1988, in the atelier era Kishin Shinoyama visited this place and took pictures of Isamu Noguchi himself and his work group against the background.
Ten years later, again Kishin Shinoyama and designer Takashi Sato visited the museum.
In 2009, a photo collection commemorating the tenth anniversary of the opening by Miyake Issei supervised was published.
This book is an augmented revised version with a full photo entry list.

About the author
Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988).
Born between an English literary scholar, poet Noguchi Yujiro and a writer Leonie Gilmore, childhood gets raised in Japan.
After traveling to the United States, he pursued a sculptor, traveled through Asia and Europe and disseminated his views.
In Paris, he is an assistant to the sculptor Brancusi.
We settled in New York and started a wide range of activities including portrait sculpture and stage art to environmental sculpture and landscape design.
After the war, we do ceramic work in Japan and design of "AKARI" using Japanese paper.
Moreover, it interacts with the avant-garde artists of the time such as Kenzo Tange, Seiichiro Inokuma, Teshigahara Soyo, Kitaoji Rojimoto, Taro Okamoto and gives stimulation.
After that, continuing sculpture, monument, environment design in various parts of the country and abroad, literally called "the man who carved the earth".
In 1985, the Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum is opened in New York.
