Haim Savitzky, painter, born 1907,
White Russia. Haim Savitzky was born
in the year 1907 in Baranovitz, White Russia. Later, he
opened a knitting mill, became a building contractor and established an office
for the planning and design of trade exhibitions. He designed several
exhibitions in Israel and overseas, such as the French and Romanian pavilions
for international trade fairs. Savitzky's work
is mainly figurative and impressionistic in style, and it is said of his works
that they are “colorful combinations” and usually figurative; the subject
matter is viewed in an original perspective and sometimes kaleidoscopically in
awakening warm colors. He is best
characterized by paintings of his family home, hometown, musicians, Jews at the
hour of “Tashlich” – repentance, synagogue and wedding prayers.
