The writing on the back translate into english as so:

Krughütte has belonged to Klarenthal as a district since 1913.

Long before the town of Krughütte was founded - Christian Kneip says as early as 1321 - there was a hand-operated brickworks at its western exit to Klarenthal, the so-called 'Aspacher Ziegelhütte', which was probably abandoned during the Thirty Years' War. In 1721, Count Carl Ludwig allowed four Kannenbäckers from Ranßbach, named Hann Georg Krummeich, Hanns Peter Wingender, Johannes Wingender, Hans Caspar Krummeich, to settle on the former collegiate land between Gersweiler and the clear valley, which was part of the Gersweiler ban, in order to preserve the rich earth at the To utilize Aspacher Ziegelhütte, as stated in the inheritance letter of July 29, 1721. As early as 1726, the names of other jug and jug bakers appeared in the Protestant church book of Gersweil: Stötzer, Müller, Güth, Dacher. Four years later, the Kannenbäckerei was transferred to Johann Dietrich Stötzer and Johann Georg Müller through an inheritance letter dated December 4, 1730.

The jug and kettle bakers practiced their trade partly in the home and partly in community work. The dishes, including tobacco pipes, were shaped at home and then baked in the communal kilns in the center of the village.

The jug bakeries were still in operation towards the end of the 18th century. In 1790, however, the regent forbade wood burning to protect the wood stocks. The Krughütte Kannenbäcker would have had to convert their business to coal-firing. Apparently that didn't seem to suit them, and so the jug bakery was gradually discontinued and the brick factory, which had been at home again in the jug hut since 1737
