Matelasse: ‘is a weaving or stitching technique yielding a pattern that appear quilted or padded. It is meant to mimic the style of hand-stitched quilts made in Marseilles, France.’ They have a textured sculptured look that appears to be padded, but actually there is no padding within the fabric.
