***The box states this is a Strombecker set, however slapped across the front of the box is a sticker that says "K-B Special Road Race Number". The contents of the set are mostly accurate to what the sticker says, therefore we assume this may have been a special edition or some type of promo set. The one major error is that the sticker says the set should contain a Ford Stock Car Shell and a Pontiac Stock Car Shell. As you can see, the three shells included are 2 Jaguar and 1 Ferrari (Jaguar and Ferrari are stated on the box) That being said, the set is missing one shell and has an extra Jaguar shell.
***We acquired this set at auction. In addition to what we stated above, we are not sure if there are other parts missing. Please examine all of the photos so you know exactly what you will be receiving. The set is SOLD AS IS.
In our opinion, the set is in good to excellent cosmetic condition. The car shells/bodies are in very good shape, showing some surface wear. The black Ferrari shell has some scratches on the windshield. All three bodies are missing the headlight lenses. The blue Jag shell is missing the drivers head, and the red Jag has the interior piece (with the drivers head), but the piece needs to be glued back in place. The car shells are free of any cracks, chips, or breaks.
The two chassis appear to be in good cosmetic condition. The pickup rollers are on different sides of the chassis (one chassis has the roller on top, the other chassis has the roller on the bottom - see pic #12 and #13 above for a visual) We have NOT tested the chassis/motors for power. They are sold AS IS, UNTESTED.
The track sections show some surface wear as seen in the photos. Additionally, some of the thin silver/metal pieces have come off and separated from a handful of track sections and will need to be put back in place (see pic #19 and #20 above for a visual)
The set comes with two sets of controllers (two pistol grip w/speedometers and two push button) We are NOT sure which controllers are the correct ones to use. They have NOT been tested.
The power pack has NOT been track tested. We did plug the pack in, and it makes a light vibrating/humming sound as it should.
The set comes does not come with the instructions.
The original box shows surface wear/marks and has a few rips and tears. Additionally, the bottom half of the box is covered in purple stains and is fairly flimsy. We assume the box got wet at some point and had an issue with mold (see pics above) The bottom half also has some tears underneath.
