The Sony A7C - Silver brings full-frame mirrorless performance to an APS-C crop format size body reminiscent of the A6000 series. It is the world's smallest and lightest full-frame body to date with a refined full-frame 24.2MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor pair realizing an impressive 10 fps continuous shooting rate and excellent low-light performance in a compact camera body with a standard ISO range of 100-51200.
A fast Hybrid AF System employing a combination of 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection area ensures accurate autofocus performance for faster, more reliable subject tracking along with wide frame coverage and quicker acquirement of focus in a variety of lighting conditions.
Video recording on the Sony A7C is supported by the inclusion of both a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 3.5mm microphone input on the camera body for external microphones. The A7C is capable of recording UHD 4K video using full-pixel readout and 6k oversampling of the full-frame sensor to minimize moiré and aliasing. Additionally, benefitting both stills and video operation, the A7C utilizes a 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift image stabilization, which is effective to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 5 stops.
Beyond the full-frame imaging system, the A7C compact body design also includes a rear 3.0" 922k-dot touchscreen LCD, which has a tilting design to better support working from high and low angles. A 2.36m-dot Tru-Finder OLED EVF is also featured for bright and clear eye-level monitoring. The A7C features a single SD memory card supporting UHS-I/II cards and the larger NP-FZ100 battery is also employed to achieve up to approximately 740 shots per charge (LCD monitor) or up to 220 minutes of recording time in XAVC S HD continuously (viewfinder). Suiting the camera's use in trying conditions, the magnesium-alloy chassis and weather-sealing also renders the A7C dust- and moisture-resistant.
The new Sony A7C camera delivers spectacular full-frame image quality in a camera body not much bigger than that of an APS-C crop format camera like the popular A6600. This true engineering feat from Sony includes brand new mechanical components, plus layout and structural enhancements. Making enhanced image depth, dynamic range and detail possible in a camera approximately 19% smaller in volume and 22% lighter than the A7 mark III. It is all you'd expect from a full-frame camera in one of the smallest full-frame camera bodies to date.
Featuring a back-illuminated design, the full-frame 24.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor works with the BIONZ X image processor to offer high-resolution stills and video while minimizing noise and improving speed. This sensor structure works with a gapless on-chip lens design and an anti-reflection coating to enhance detail and improve light collection with a native sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200
State-of-the-art AF and speedy continuous shooting up to 10 fps provided by A7C's BIONZ X processor help ensure you don't miss that important split-second shot.
Handheld on-the-go operation is easy the Sony A7C, it's 5-axis in-body images stablisation unit keeps your footage steady and blur-free whether you're shooting movies or stills.
Sony A7C is not only an extremely compact full-frame camera for stills but also a hybrid shooters dream camera with full-pixel readout and 6K oversampled 4K UHD video recording, including S-log2/3 & HLG picture profiles, slow-motion recording and adjustable AF sensitivity/transition speed for focus pulls. The A7C also supports both headphone output and external audio for via 3.5mm input jack, allowing you to both monitor your audio recordings and use directional microphones with the A7C. Alternatively, experience cable-free vlogging by attaching an optional grip and mic combination from Sony using the Multi Interface Shoe which supports Digital Audio. To top it off, the A7C also supports vertical video format making it the perfect companion for social media content creation.
A robust feature set is matched by robust quality. The A7C rests on Sony's reliable design experience and uses a magnesium monocoque structure that has been sealed against dust and moisture* and a side-opening LCD monitor offers flexible operation with 176° horizontal and 270° vertical rotation. A Sony NP-FZ100 battery provides the Sony A7C with a CIPA battery life equivalent to around 740 pictures using the LCD monitor or around 220 minutes of video recording in XAVC S while using the viewfinder.
*Not guaranteed to be 100% dust- and moisture-proof.
The Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G Lens is a classic wide normal prime lens an in ultra-compact form factor optimised for the modern content creator that shoots both stills and video. This versatile lens suits shooting everything from street to landscapes, portraiture, and documentary subjects, and it features an advanced optical design for well-corrected imagery with a high degree of sharpness and clarity.
The lens design includes an extra-low dispersion and aspherical elements to reduce a variety of aberrations, colour fringing, and distortion. The optics are complemented by a Nano AR II coating that also suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast. Balancing the optics is an XD Linear Motor system that uses two separate focusing motors to deliver especially quiet, precise, and quick autofocus performance. The lens also sports a dust- and moisture-sealed design and fluorine-coated front lens element to support shooting in inclement conditions.
High image quality is realised using aspherical glass elements to deliver sharp and detailed images. The aspherical elements deployed in the 40mm F2.5 minimises and removes many common aberrations. Additionally, an incredibly close focus distance allows for greater detail up close.
The robust build is designed to withstand the demands of everyday use. With the exterior finish and lens hood made from tough aluminium for enhanced durability plus dust and weather resistance for greater reliability. Further, the aperture ring indices, focal length markings, and Sony logo on the hood, are all engraved, giving a finish with a sophisticated feel.
Compact Size
Despite the compact size of the 40mm F2.5 it still features a focus hold button, focus mode switch, aperture ring, and aperture click switch. The Linear Response Manual Focus ring contributes to the intuitive operability and design of the lens, offering greater control and an enhanced user experience. Weighing 173g, the Sony FE 40mm F2.5 shares the same physical dimensions and filter diameter as the Sony FE 24mm and 50mm F/2.5, allowing seamless lens changing for videographers.
Supported by two linear motors this lens is capable of delivering fast, precise autofocus with excellent AF tracking performance. When paired with an Alpha camera with Real-time Tracking, autofocus tracking is maintained regardless of instantaneous changes in subject speed or direction. The powerful autofocus capabilities deliver exceptional results for both stills capture and movie making.
Quiet and Low-vibration AF | ideal for movie shooting
Besides exceptionally fast and accurate autofocus, the two linear motors have a very low operating noise, making this lens ideal for both still and movie shooting, when near-silent operation is highly important. Additionally, the wide variety of capabilities and features such as deep-ribbed focus wheel with linear focus response, deep-ribbed iris wheel and light-weight make this collection of prime lenses comfortable for extended shooting use for either stills or movies.
