Loose Cannon is proud to preserve the USA's military history via its unique DVD film collections. Using a combination of U.S. Dept. of Defense archive films, combat footage, and period newsreels of the time, each film features actual wartime footage and or first-person accounts from those that were there.

This DVD features the U.S. Iowa-Class Battleships; USS Iowa, USS Missouri, USS New Jersey and the USS Wisconsin.
War planners anticipated that the US fleet would engage and advance in the Central Pacific, with a long line of communication and logistics that would be vulnerable to high-speed Japanese cruisers. The chief concern was that the US Navy's traditional 21-knot battle line would be too slow to force these Japanese task forces into battle, while faster carriers and their cruiser escorts would be outmatched by the Japanese Kongo-class battlecruisers, which had been upgraded in the 1930s to fast battleships.

All four fought in WW2, while some continued to serve the US Navy in the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War and two even took part in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

This 1950s black and white film “Battleship” focuses on the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) (13 min)
