DESCRIPTION

Complete in two volumes. 

First edition copies. 

John Ashton wrote and illustrated these volumes on English caricature and satire on Napoleon I. Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military commander and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution. 

Frontispiece and half title page to volume one is detached. 

With a frontispiece to volume on and many in-text illustrations to both volumes.

With a thirty two page catalogue to the rear of volume two.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with a Mudie's sticker to the front board of volume one and mark to the front board of volume two. Bumping to the head and tail of the spines With some splitting to the joints of volume two. Front free endpaper is starting to volume one and the front free endpaper, frontispiece and half title page to volume one is detached. Previous owner inscription to the title pages, reverse of the front free endpapers and half title pages. Internally, otherwise firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages.
