Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue fretless model JB62-77FL in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this model captures the feel and look of Jaco Pastorious' famed J Bass, upgraded with a pair of Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups. Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and lined slab rosewood fretboard, delivering plenty of growl, burp, and snap via the upgraded pair of Basslines single coils pickups. Made by Seymour Duncan and released under the Basslines banner, these pickups features oversized pole pieces and offer big, bold JB tones; they’re throaty and punchy with the Tone control rolled off and the neck pickup favored, and dialing up the bridge pickup results in a midrange-forward tone with plenty of presence and cut. This bass weighs 9lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 D’Addario Chromes flatwound strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The lined slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, exhibiting light wear beneath the strings from a previous set of roundwounds. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The clover-button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with long stems and nickel plating. The “Crafted in Japan” text and P-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended; the upgraded pickups are wired to the stock harness with full-size Japanese pots, and a standard Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. The chrome-plated hardware has plenty of shine, including the bridge with spiral saddles and control plate. The three-tone Sunburst finish is accurate to vintage-spec with a burst that is only two-tone beneath the area where you'd typically see a pickguard. Cosmetic wear is limited to a scant few minor dings and faint finish scratches on the body, largely along the lower bout perimeter and on the back, as well as a limited area of buckle worming on the back central to the waist. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate. A Guardian-brand padded gigbag is included.
