Comes with instructions and original box, takes double As, replaced with new ones but uncertain how long they will last as stored for 6 months the batteries. Takes a little time to acquire satellites, its a helpful item to use on say hikes. Phones can die out, loose data, say take as many items that do the same thing to ensure you find your way back. Does have a backlight, easy to navigate. Its more PDA like than like an app.
