1817 New York Park Theatre/Theatre Royal Liverpool Paid Token

A good collectable copper token as pictured. Please judge condition for yourself with the pictures provided.

Notes: The Park Theatre opened January 1798, and is identified with the rare Theatre at New York Penny. These admission tokens were introduced in September 1817 to foil ushers' embezzling. Patrons to the New York Park Theatre were given the Admit token as a receipt of payment to gain entrance into the theatre. Then they would give it to the usher who would exchange it for a Paid token. 

These tokens come in two types: ADMIT (in coin rotation) and PAID (in medal rotation). This one is PAID. Catalogue: Rulau E-NY 41A. 

Though listed as United States tokens, they are listed as United Kingdom tokens also.. and are supposed to have been used at the Theatre Royal, Liverpool.
