Up for sale is a late 1950s Bircher “Blendtome” electro surgical unit that was designed to perform outpatient operations using electricity.

The probes can cut, cauterize and stimulate tissue with minimal discomfort to the patient.

It comes with a grounding pad, (1) NOS 716 desiccation needle, a #789 probe set (for rectal and cervical ailments) and all the paperwork from purchase including a flyer, instruction manual, spare cabinet screws, etc. Even the sales reps card is present with a date of 1959.

Condition is excellent with clear lettering on the units control panel. The probe cord is flexible with no signs of dry rot/cracking. The leatherette covered case has some wear but the handle is intact and seals the lid tightly.

This unit was part of a practice that shut down in the 80s and is untested. I’m betting it works but might need some of the capacitors replace if you plan on using it for home surgery.
