Interesting original CDV of Douglas Methuen Forsyth RN, named and dated  for 1866 on the reverse which also associates him with HMS Ocean (an iron-clad Prince Consort class battleship of 21 guns launched in 1863).   Forsyth in relaxed non-military  pose.   Born in 1847 so just 19 at this time and early in his naval career.   He eventually retired as RN Commander, lived for many years at Leavington House, St John's Park, Ryde, IOW; died in 1915 - there is a memorial plaque in St John's church there.   Sepia photograph 9 1/2 x 6 cm on card by M Guttenberg of Clifton.   Please view photographs.
