The portrait most probably depicts one of his professors at the faculty. -- in very good condition. -- Léon Francis Julliot de La Morandière (Granville 1885-1968 Paris), is a French lawyer and academic, member of the 'Académie des sciences morales et politiques' from 1946. During his life, Morandiere was a passionate amateur painter. He created drawings and paintings. In Tokyo he became a close friend and collector of the works of Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886-1968). - Morandiere was lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Algiers in 1911-1912. He then teaches as a professor of civil law in Rennes de 1912 to 1914, Strasbourg from 1919 to 1922, then Paris from 1922 until 1955. He was director of the Franco-Japanese House from 1933 to 1936 and in Tokyo.
