This illustration is from a series of anatomical sketches created in the cadaver lab of the Oregon Health and Sciences University, Medical Simulation Center. OHSU Professor of Anatomy, Gary Ciment, Ph.D., was in search of a medical illustrator capable of beautiful and accurate sketches that would communicate clearly without the aid of computer generated graphics. The objective of the illustrations was to capture an honest representation of the dissection, purely. I wanted these drawings to remain as raw as possible so the only digital manipulation was in the form of adjusting the brightness and contrast for imaging optimization.

Dr. Ciment on the resulting images:

"You captured the feel of the project perfectly with these drawings. It's gorgeous, and it's exactly what I had in mind. It has the "artistic feel of a professional sketch artist, who appreciates the beauty of the human form, even after death."

The sketches are built from Prismacolor® Col-erase® blue pencil for the base, Copic sketch markers for the tone, Eagle Turquoise Prestomatic 3377 2H drafting pencil for the finer line work and are drawn on Canson

150 L illustration board.
