About the Hall China Company 

The Hall China Company, founded in 1903, by Robert Hall. After his death in 1904, his son began developing a glaze that could withstand the high heat (2400°F) required for bisque firing to produce non-porous, craze-proof dishes like those from China during the Ming Dynasty.

In 1911, Hall successfully produced the first leadless glaze with a new process that fused together the white clay body, color and glaze resulting a very dense product that did not absorb moisture and held heat well.
