The First Base bump protection cap has evolved as a direct result of listening to our customers needs to integrate a more fashionable element to protective headwear. 

APPLICATIONS 

The FirstBase 3 bump cap range is designed to provide protection against the effects of striking the head against hard, stationary objects which can cause lacerations or other superficial injuries. Bump caps are not intended to provide protection against the effects of falling or thrown objects or suspended loads and does not offer the same protection level as an industrial safety helmet as specified in EN397. Typical applications and environments that utilise base ball style bump protection include manufacture and maintenance in the aerospace, automotive and facilities maintenance sectors, transportation and logistics workers, tradesmen working in environments without the risk of falling objects and government institutions such as the Police

COLOUR FASTNESS

Colour fastness is a measure of how permanent a colour is on fabric. Generally the main causes of fabric fade are from washing and light degradation. When evaluating all forms of colour change a scale of 1-8 is used, '1' indicates very low colour fastness (maximum colour change) and '8' indicates very high light fastness (minimum colour change). All Firstbase 3 fabrics have been tested for colour fastness against ISO 105 and have received overall colour fastness ratings of a level 4. These ratings are in line with globally accepted colour fastness ratings for apparel in Europe, US, Canada, Australia and Japan, which require a rating of 3-4.

COMPLIANCE STATEMENT

3M works very closely with its core suppliers and appreciates that our customers need to be assured that no prohibited materials are being used in the production our Firstbase 3 bump caps. All materials used in the manufacture of the fabrics have been registered with REACH. REACH is a new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007. None of the chemicals that appear on the restricted list are used in the production of this product. 3M can also assure our customer base that government compliance regulations are adhered to in the manufacture of this product. 3M audits its key suppliers to ensure compliance to the high quality and ethical standards demanded by our business.

MAINTENANCE/CLEANING

The fabrics of all Firstbase 3 models are machine washable. Please note the washing instructions below should be adhered to when cleaning Firstbase 3 models.
