Purchased from a country French antique dealer in 1994.  Chairs are in very good condition except for one seat that has a stain mark in the middle of the seat (see photo).  Also, slight scuff marks at the top of 2 of the chair backs from handling/lifting (see photo).

I believe the wood is cherry.

Structurally sound and sturdy.
