This listing is for an antique children's book entitled "Davy and the Goblin" or "What Followed Reading 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' written by Charles E. Carryl and illustrated by Edmond Birckhead  Bensell. 
This is a novel that was serialized in a magazine in the late Victorian era. Davy fell asleep while reading "Alice in Wonderland" and a goblin appears in the coals of the fireplace to take Davy on a journey.
There is a tissue guarded frontispiece illustrating Davy and the Goblin and many wonderful illustrations throughout the book.
The cover is red cloth with an illustration of the Goblin and gold gilt embellishments.

It was published in 1912 by Houghton Mifflin Company. The first edition is 1884.

Condition:  The previous owner's wrote their names and address on the cover page. There is wear and rubbing all along the spine and the cover.
