Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Jazzmaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. One of the very first Jazzmasters to feature the cosmetic combination of a bound rosewood fingerboard and pearloid block inlays, this Jazzmaster is 100% original save for a professional refret and hand-carved bone nut. Finished in Blonde gloss nitro lacquer over an ash body, this Jazzmaster has an authoritative natural acoustic quality with great midrange complexity and treble cut. The original gray bobbin pickups deliver equal parts sparkling detail and smooth warmth, offering a tonal breadth that's unique to the Jazzmaster pickup design, with the original pickup windings extending all the way to the very edge of the bobbins. The bridge pickup is snappy and sparkling with plenty of sinewy snap, while the neck pickup is inherently rounder-sounding with a sweet percussive character. Engaging the Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn thickens things up for even richer, woolier sounds. The guitar weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 11-49 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder, measuring .845" deep at both the 1st and 12th frets. The dark rosewood fretboard is framed by cream binding with pearloid block inlay, refretted with slender fretwire that shows no wear. The fretboard retains its original 7 1/4" radius, and the guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. A new hand-carved bone nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the guitar features the original Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The December, 1966 date stamp is intact on the neck heel, and the original "paint stick" marking indicative of an original finish is visible in the neck pocket. On the body, all of the electronics work as they should, and the gray bobbin pickups have their original bright copper windings and cloth covered leads, each with a January, 1967 date inked on the bobbin. The CTS pots in the Lead Circuit date to the 36th week of '66. All of the brass shielding tubs are intact, and the body routes are unaltered. The vibrato unit has bright chrome plating, working in concert with the Mastery M1 bridge (original bridge is also included). The original tortoise pickguard has the dark red "meatball" nitrate material first seen in '66, with the original aluminum shielding plate intact, and a pair of witch hat knobs round out the plastics. The subtly transparent Blonde gloss nitro lacquer gloss is 100% original and deeply yellowed, with no touch-up or overspray. The body exhibits various dings and finish chips, largely on the back and perimeter, with some additional light buckle wear on the back and forearm wear on top. The nitro gloss on the neck shows palm wear through the gloss on much of the bass-side profile shoulder, with just a few shallow marks on the profile length. The original black tolex hardshell case is included, with black leather ends, functional latches and the original handle.
